About Us

PRETTY LONG FEET

Pretty Long Feet is dedicated to meeting the needs of women who wear shoes larger than size 9 USA/Canada.  This blog is about sharing ideas and exchanging your experiences of life with feet larger than the average store carries.  It’s a place to have fun, laugh and even poke fun at some of the silly things that have happened just because we have pretty long feet.

We are looking forward to hearing exciting stories about your experiences or even some recommendations of where to shop, where you found a deal and how you handle being a girl with pretty long feet.

Isabel’s Story

Isabel wears size 10 shoes and is excited to connect with women with large feet.

When shopping in most stores, I ask for a size 10 and sometimes 11.  It depends on the brand.  On many occasions I go into a shoe store and ask for a size 41.  What’s really funny is most sales reps believe that a size 41 is an “11”.  I find it so funny and ridiculous every time this happens.  I found the conversion chart below and wanted to share it with you.  For all of the strange looks that I get when asking for a larger size and for all the times that a size or two smaller than my foot has been brought from the back room for me to try…. AND for all the times that this has happened to you, we have created the Pretty Long Feet blog to share our stories.

Please join us with your comments and ideas of where and when to shop for that great pair of shoes for our Pretty Long Feet! Pun intended.  🙂

Ivy’s Story

Ivy Prosper

Ivy Prosper, Fashion & Media Gal wears a shoe size 12

I remember being 14 years old and wearing a ladies size 10 shoe.  My mom used to get a catalogue called Tall Gals that came from the USA.  We ordered shoes from that catalogue often.  For my high school graduation I ordered a pair of cream and gold flat pointed shoes to wear to the prom.  These were before the days of the internet.  In fact growing up in Canada, I remember crossing the border regularly to buy shoes because of having bigger feet.  We would shop Payless, Fayva, and Picway shoes.  Only Payless still exists now but obviously with the world-wide web things have changed quite a bit.

Now I wear a ladies size 12 shoe.  On occasion I have purchased even 13 for those ever so pointy shoes that are sexy but not always the most comfortable.  Ah for the love of shoes.  Through my experiences both shopping and working in the footwear business, finding sizes over 10 can still be quite a challenge.  I remember going into a shoe store and the salesperson asking me for help.  I told her I already knew they didn’t carry my size.  She asked me what size I needed and when I said ‘size 12’ she was taken aback and said, “They actually make shoes that big?”  I looked and her and sarcastically said “Thanks.” and walked out.

I love shoes.  I have made road trips for shoes.  People are amazed that with such a shoe size I own so many pairs of shoes.  That’s because when I find them, I usually buy them; for fear I will never find them again and I usually don’t.

That’s my story.
